Casino games are simply the games available to be played at a casino. The casino may be a physical, land-based establishment or, as is often the case nowadays, an online casino. Players at a casino gamble on an outcome or a combination of outcomes. The stake maybe actual hard cash or casino chips, which are of course later cashed in for money. There are many types of casino games, and new ones are being coined every other day. It can get overwhelming, especially for gambling novices. With this summarized guide however, one should be able to quickly decide what’s for them and what’s not in terms of the myriad gambling options available.

Types Of Casino Games

Casino Slot

It’s only fair that we give slots a very special mention here, since they make up a whooping 70% of casino games. People just love to play the slots, and they contribute the lion’s share of most casinos’ revenues. Slots are played on slot machines. In a land-based casino, a slot machine is an actual, physical (sometimes quite mechanical) device. The device will have a number of reels which are shown on a screen. The number of reels depends on the type of machine. That’s why you’ll hear people speak of a three-reel machine, five-reel and so on. The reels will have a series of numbers or other symbols shown on them. There’s also a horizontal line across the screen, referred to as a “payline”.

The game is started by pushing a button or a lever. This action gets the reels spinning, till they automatically stop. To play, the player must first purchase playing credits from the casino. One credit usually means one chance to spin the machine. How does a player win? The game is won by matching a number of symbols on the “payline”. In a three-reel machine, for instance, the player can take home the highest prize by matching all three symbols. There’s usually smaller prizes for matching two symbols, and sometimes matching certain special symbols may pay more than matching others. And, of course, the payouts on bigger machines with more reels are commensurately bigger since its commensurately harder win. Slots offer casino goers simple, straightforward fun. No head-scratching strategies or tactics needed. They’re purely dependent on luck, which further boosts their appeal as casino games.

Table Casino Games

If you’re not playing slots at a casino, then you’re shooting dice or playing cards. Table casino games may also purely rely on luck but usually need a combination of skill and luck. Here are the main table games one might find at any casino, online or otherwise:

Casino Blackjack

In blackjack, the gambler plays against the dealer. The dealer deals a set of cards – usually two to start with – and whoever has a total as close as possible to 21 simply wins the game. In theory it can sound simple, but blackjack requires experience and knowledge of various strategies and their application in order to win consistently.

Casino Roulette

Roulette, like slots, is all about lady luck. Just throw a ball onto a spinning wheel and predict where it lands. The wheel is marked out with rows, columns, squares, numbers and colors, and these are outcomes that the player must forecast correctly to win.

Casino Craps

Craps is one of the most lucrative casino games there is – and simple too! A pair of dice are rolled, and the player gets to predict various outcomes. For instance, on the first roll (called the “come out roll”) 7 or 11 is a win, while 2,3 or 12 is a loss.

Casino Baccarat

Baccarat is another fun card-comparing game that’s especially popular in parts of Asia. There are three options for the gambler:  back the player, back the banker or tie. Two cards are dealt face-up and whoever has a total as close as possible or equal to 9 wins.  The gambler wins if they chose correctly between the banker or player or a tie.

Poker Casino Games

Poker has many variants but the concept remains relatively the same. To win, the player has to make the best 5-card hand from cards they’re dealt plus the ones they trade in. For the most part, poker requires good strategy, but can be very profitable for experienced players.
